KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 697

Knights of Columbus
Council 697 is a fraternal organization of Racine-area Catholic men who follow the principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. Since August 1902, Council 697 has aided the Catholic Church, the community and Brother Knights with programs that assist the less fortunate, promote Catholic teachings and foster patriotism. We are among the nearly 270 local Knights of Columbus councils in Wisconsin.

Did You Know?

Some well known Knights of Columbus have included football coaching legend Vince Lombardi, baseball slugger Babe Ruth, author and television preacher Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, writer Joyce Kilmer and boxing champion Floyd Patterson.

In 1975, the Knights of Columbus began paying the cost to provide uplink transmissions for major worldwide satellite telecasts from the Vatican. Today audiences are estimated in the billions for Midnight Mass from St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
